Reading through this year’s Forbes Asia 100 to Watch list has been a reminder of just how far the Asia-Pacific region has come in reshaping what innovation really looks like.
These are not vanity startups chasing trends. These are companies solving the problems that actually matter like health, climate, food, mobility, education, logistics, manufacturing etc. What makes this list special is not just the ideas, but the people and places behind them.
You see medtech startups using wearable tech to help kids with asthma breathe better. You see energy companies building battery systems and solar panels that work even in poor weather conditions. You see software being built to give small businesses the tools that only large enterprises had access to a few years ago. In healthcare, the shift is toward personalization and remote access. In energy and climate, there is urgency but also optimism. And across logistics, robotics and enterprise tech, there is this focus on precision, speed and sustainability, not just scale for its own sake.
It is also encouraging to see funding picking up again in places like India, Singapore and Japan. But it is not a free-for-all. Capital is flowing where there is traction, impact and a clear path to real-world adoption. The fluff is gone. What’s left are companies with substance.
There is something very real happening across this region. A new kind of startup culture is emerging. One that is less about disruption and more about relevance. Less about buzz and more about resilience. What we are seeing is not just a list of promising companies. It is a map of where the future is being built. And it is not coming out of one city or one sector. It is coming from every corner, from classrooms in Vietnam to research labs in Kyoto to dry farms in Rajasthan to deep space projects in Bangalore.
This is a reminder that innovation is not just about having an idea. It is about having the persistence to keep building when no one is watching. That is what this year’s 100 to Watch captures so well.
To everyone out there building with purpose, solving for real people, and creating systems that will actually hold up. Thank you. Keep going.
